There are many types of bearings. Among them, deep groove ball bearings belong to a type of radial ball bearings. During use, deep groove ball bearings have the characteristics of high rotational speed, high precision, and low noise and vibration. The deep groove ball bearings that mainly bear radial loads have three main features. Depending on the different uses of deep groove ball bearings, there are also different types of deep groove ball bearings.

The China Bearing Network shares the three main characteristics and some types of deep groove ball bearings based on its detailed understanding.

Feature 1: It is composed of an outer ring, an inner ring, a set of steel balls and a set of retainers.

Feature 2: It mainly withstands pure radial loads and can also bear axial loads. When it withstands pure radial loads, its contact angle is zero; when it has a large radial play, that is, has the performance of angular contact bearings, it can withstand larger axial loads. Deep groove ball bearings have a low friction coefficient and a high limit rotational speed, so when axial loads rotate at high speed, they are more superior than thrust bearings. However, due to its limited self-aligning performance, the concentricity of the bearing installation must be high; otherwise, it will affect the balance of its operation, increase the stress on the bearing, and thereby shorten its working life.

Feature 3: The deep groove ball bearing has a simple structure and can achieve higher precision compared to other types, thus enabling mass production. Besides the standard models, it also has various structural variations, such as deep groove ball bearings with dust covers, deep groove ball bearings with rubber rings, and deep groove ball bearings with stop slots, etc.

Deep groove ball bearing type 1, deep groove ball bearing with dust cover

Standard deep groove ball bearings with dust covers are available in two types: Z-type and 2Z-type (NSK refers to ZZ-type). They are generally used in situations where lubrication is difficult to achieve independently, or where it is inconvenient to install lubrication pipelines and check the lubrication conditions. The rust-preventing and lubricating lithium-based grease injected into the interior of the bearing usually occupies 1/4 to 1/3 of the internal space of the bearing.

Deep groove ball bearing type 2, deep groove ball bearing with sealing ring

Standard deep groove ball bearings with sealing rings include the contact type sealed ring bearings of RS type (NSK calls it DDU type, with one side sealing) and 2RS type (with two sides sealing), as well as the non-contact type sealed bearings of RZ type (NSK calls it VV type, with one side sealing) and 2RZ type. Their performance, grease filling, and applications are basically the same as those of bearings with dust covers. The difference is that there is a larger gap between the dust cover and the inner ring, while the sealing lips of the non-contact type sealed rings have a smaller gap with the inner ring. The sealing lips of the contact type sealed bearings have no gap with the inner ring, resulting in better sealing effect but an increase in friction coefficient.

Deep groove ball bearing type 3, with stop grooves and deep groove ball bearings with stop rings

The standard rear suffix code for deep groove ball bearings with locking grooves is "N", while the rear suffix code for deep groove ball bearings with locking grooves and locking rings is "HR". In addition, there are structural variants such as "ZN" and "ZNR". Deep groove ball bearings with locking rings not only can withstand radial loads but also the locking ring can restrict the axial displacement of the bearing, simplifying the structure of the bearing housing and reducing the size of the bearing. They are generally used in working parts with small axial loads such as in automobiles and tractors.

Deep groove ball bearing type 4, deep groove ball bearing with ball loading notch

The standard deep groove ball bearings with ball retaining grooves come in two diameter series: 200 and 300. There are grooves on the inner and outer rings on one side, allowing more balls to be inserted and increasing their radial load capacity. However, due to their relatively small axial load capacity, they cannot operate at high speeds. If there is a large axial load, they need to be used in combination with ordinary deep groove ball bearings.

Deep groove ball bearing type 5, double row deep groove ball bearing

The standard double-row deep groove ball bearings are 4200A and 4300A. The A-type bearings do not have ball loading notches.

Deep groove ball bearing type 6, single row deep groove ball bearing

Single row deep groove ball bearings have low friction torque and are suitable for high-speed rotation, low noise and low vibration conditions. Besides the open type, there are also steel plate dust-proof covers, rubber sealing ring bearings, and steel plate pressed cages.

The above three major characteristics and some types of deep groove ball bearings enable us to understand some common features and related types when using deep groove ball bearings.
